Environmentally Friendly with a View
Monterey and Mission Lodge are located in Ada’s Vineyard, a working vineyard with 20-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon vines. The vines produce excellent fruit, which is used in many local wines and farmed sustainably. Large windows provide guests with views of the vineyard and natural visitors, including quail and red fox. All three lodges encourage seniors to connect with the seasons through flowering plants, colorful foliage, and fruit trees that remind them of nature’s gifts.
All three of Ada’s lodges were constructed using environmentally friendly products, including a solar energy system, Energy Star appliances, and individual heating, cooling, and ceiling fan systems in resident rooms. This allows residents to control their environment with minimal energy usage. All laundry is done on-site, using low-energy and low-water washers and dryers. The kitchens feature efficient, low-water commercial-style dishwashers for maximum sanitation. Recycling bins are provided in all lodges, and environmentally friendly cleaning products are used whenever possible.
Lighting in Ada’s lodges is provided by LED or compact fluorescent bulbs. Outdoor and many indoor lights are equipped with timers and photocell switches to ensure a safely lit environment for our seniors while minimizing energy use. Senior care rooms have lighting over each bed, allowing for reading and easy access to light at night for optimal residential care safety.
Incorporating local produce into our dining options is a significant part of our elder care program. Residents at Annette Lodge can take advantage of the weekly farmers market at the downtown park.
